Lay Communities

One of the many great benefits and blessings about being Catholic Christians is that we have numerous ways in which we can get involved, learn more about our faith, and grow to become the best person we can be and that God is calling us to be. Here at St. Jude the Apostle Cathedral, we are proud to be able to be "home" for these groups, along with the other ones listed on the previous page under the same group.

Boy Scouts

We are proud to be the host for one of our local Boy Scouts of America Troups. This great organization for boys and young men is geared to helping them to become the best person they can be and to educating them so they can know and be confident in many aspects of life and survival.

Fire in the Spirit Prayer Community

The Fire in the Spirit Prayer Community is the local Charismatic Community dedicated to praising God through Paise and Worship music. They meet on Thursday evenings in the Meehan room and all are welcome to attend and praise God.

Mercedarian Lay Fraternity

What better way to discribe this beautiful group than to use their own words. "The third Order is an association of faithful Catholics. The primary vocation of each member is the universal call to holiness which is manifested in their state in life: either diocesan priesthood, married, or single. Those who have joined the third order have a secondary call to live out a certain spirituality which gives meaning, direction, and purpose to their life. Their apostolic purpose is to evangelize and sanctify and to infuse a Christian spirit into the temporal order. Though works of mercy and charity they bear witness to Christ. Their called to serve “the Mission of the Church”, which is to “make disciples of all nations”." For more information, click here.
