Faith Formation

One of the essential and beautiful aspects of family in the Catholic Church, is the transmition of the Gift of Faith from one generation to another. This is something which has been done for centuries, for generations upon generation. Indeed, it is not just something which has been done, but it is part of the greatest obligations that are upon parents, the education of their children. The Second Vatican Council says, "Since parents have given children their life, they are bound by the most serious obligation to educate their offspring and therefore must be recognized as the primary and principal educators ... Parents are the ones who must create a family atmosphere animated by love and respect for God and man, in which the well-rounded personal and social education of children is fostered." (Gravissimum Educationis, pp. 3) As people of faith who seek and strive to live become disciples of Christ, this is soemthing which we do not embark on alone. We as a church community are here to provide what help and assistance we can.

FIRE Faith Formation

The FIRE Faith Formation program is our Pre-K4 through 5th Grade Faith Formation program here at St. Jude Cathedral. This program is designed to help children not attending Catholic School to learn about the Catholic Church, prepare them for the reception of the Sacraments, and enrich their spiritual lives. Our FIRE program runs through the School year on Sunday Mornings after the 9:30am Mass. Fire for the 2017-18 Pastoral Year will begin on Sunday, September 10.  Full calendar and registration information will be available shortly.

Children's Church

Children's Church is a opportunity for children 2 years of age through 5 grade to read and look at the readings from the Mass in a way that they will better understand. Children's Church takes place during the Liturgy of the Word at Mass. They are called up immediately following the First Reading and return to the parents at the end of the Homily. Children's Church is from the First Sunday of Advent through Pentacost Sunday every year.
